Valley is an ideal base to explore the Harrogate area and all it has on offer. For cream teas, gardens, the Turkish Baths, antique shops, fashionable shopping, theatres, conference/exhibition venues, trendy bars and restaurants, Harrogate is a 45 min walk away (regular buses are 20 minutes away).  The Great Yorkshire Show takes place every July.

A short walk from Valley is the Nidderdale Greenway which can be followed on foot or bicycle to Ripley, where you can wander around the castle and landscaped gardens or just relax with an ice cream.

Ripon, England's oldest city, with it's impressive Cathedral, Workhouse and Police Museum is well worth a visit. A regular market is held and there's Ripon Racecourse, too. A short distance away is the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden World Heritage Site.

An hour's stroll or 15 minute drive takes you to Knaresborough and it's 12th century ruined castle from where you have spectacular views across the Nidd Valley and Railway Viaduct. The quirky  Knaresborough Bed Race takes place in June, a really fun day out. You can visit Mother Shipton's Cave and Petrifying Well, take a boat trip or enjoy lunch and refreshments in one of the many riverside pubs.
